I was born in Wickersley in 1947 and lived there until I got married in 1967. I lived at 7 Newhall Avenue and have fond memories of roller skating up and down - the Avenue seemed so steep in those days!
My mother and father got married at St Albans Church, my brother and I were both christened there by Sorby Briggs
(he also married me). My brother Micheal was also in the Church Choir.
I remember Wickersley with the cross roads and Pashleys farm on the corner with Mr Pashley sat outside the front door and the horses across the road in their stables next to the school; Coys farm before the Tanyard was built; goats in the fields on Morthen Road before the houses were built.
I also remember the privet hedge cut as a three piece suite at the sewage works; Mum packing us a bottle of water and bread and butter to go on a picnic at Slacks pond.
